Like Father , Like Son

J and Blake are so much alike.  They spend tons of time together playing games and fighting on the floor ( which J normally loses) and Blake loves to do anything that J does.  As you can tell by this picture they even dress alike and lay down alike :)

And yes J is wearing glow in the dark footed pajamas and he loves them. I think he looks funny but comfortable :)  They layed down like this without realizing it and I walked in and couldn't help but laugh.

Happy Halloween!!

Blake loves Toy Story and has watched the movie probably 200 times.  The love for this movie is displayed through his absolute love for his costume this year.

And boy is he in love with this costume!  He has never been this excited about getting dressed up for Halloween and it is hard to get him to take it off.  I think that he would keep it on until he out grew it:)

Aiden on the other hand was excited about being a duck until it came time to actually put it on.  But finally tonight J was able to convince him to put it on so that they could go trick or treating tonight at Wal-Mart (didn't know that they did this until I went there tonight)  and the kids had a blast. Aiden wore his duck costume the whole time with no complaints at all!

As you can tell Aiden was not thrilled about his costume at this point but that was because J tried to put the duck feet on him and he was not happy about that but he really started to like wearing the duck costume once he took the feet off.  Kids can be so funny!  I love that about them.

They Say The Darndest

Tonight I picked up my kids from my parents and on the way home I was asking Blake what they did today and he told me that they had gone to play with some friends of my mom's that have a couple of kids the same ages as ours.  Blake then proclaimed "Kaitlyn said that we can marry because we are not cousins, yeah!"  Talk about funny.  I couldn't stop laughing.  So we have managed to marry off our oldest by 5 now if we can only find someone that will marry Aiden.  That may take a little longer :)

Ouch

Well as I am sure you all know by now Aiden is a very busy kid.  Always thinking and always moving.  Blake on the other hand is very laid back and thinks things through before he acts and it definitly shows.  Blake has never been to the ER for any injuries.  Aiden however has been twice in the last 3 months.  In July he was running, tripped and fell and cracked his head on the corner of the wall.  He had the biggest bump on the his forehead which you can still feel.  Then last night he was running and playing and tripped and fell as usual only this time he came down hard on the corner of the fireplace at mawmaw and pawpaw's house.  They do their best to block it with stuffed animals when he is around he just happened to get done playing with the one that blocks the corner and bam he went down.  Resulting in a very fat lip and quite a bit of blood.  But he was a trooper!

Luckily they were able to close it up with glue and he didn't need stitches, and after 3 popsicles he was his happy go lucky self again.  He was even modeling his new "ouchie" in the mirrors and showing just how cool he is now :)  Luckily for him he always gets over any type of injury very quickly and goes off the run and play and undoubtably hurt himself again some day.  Somedays you just wish you could lock them in a padded room but I have had my fair share of bumps and bruises and I know that he will make it through (with just a few scars) and go on to share all the stories with friends one day.  He is a tough little guy.

Smarter Than He Looks!

Ok so I previously told you that he loves to get up in the middle of the night to play.  Well everynight me and J do our best to out smart him.  It has taken a couple of tries but I think we got it!! We put a gate up the first night and he pulled his bed over to the doorway and used that to help him climb over.  He won :(  Next night we bolted his bed to the wall so he could not move it so he used their nightstand by dragging that over to the doorway and climb over.  He won :(  Next night we then screwed that to the wall and put up two gates to keep him in.  He stayed in the room but piled all of his pillows, blankets and stuffed animals on top of each other so that he could get into the top of the dresser and play with the lego's and make another large mess.  So he won again (sort of, were getting there).  Finally I took the lego's out of his room and minimized the stuffed animals and finally this morning I awoke to find a snoozing baby in his bed, a clean house, and a clean bedroom.  Yeah success!!  How long do I think that it will take before he start stashing tools in his diaper like Tommy from Rugrats?  Probably only a few days but for now I am going to enjoy knowing that he his sleeping safely in his room!!  But I know that many more challenges will come and we will do our best to out smart a 2 year old!!

Lesson Learned

Last night Aiden hopefully learned his first of many painful lessons.  He burnt his little fingers on the stove.  I probably told him 20 times in a matter of two minutes that it was hot and he needed to stay away but if anyone knows anything about Aiden its that he absolutly does not want to do what he is told.  He has this 2 year old mentality that his is the smartest human to ever walk this earth : )  It does not matter how many times you explain to him that he should not do something he has to prove that he thinks he is right and try it himself.  Needless to say he quickly realized that I was right and that he should not have touched the hot stove. But don't worry he is fine it was more damage to his ego than to his fingers because the stove was off at the time but it was still cooling down (darn electric stoves).  I think that he know has realized though that he should not do that again and he avoids the stove like it is the plague, but that is a good thing :  ).  He does his best to make sure that he keeps us on our toes at all times.  My cousin James mentioned on his blog that his twins were very talented at quickly destroying his house.  Aiden is the same way, you blink you eyes and something has been destroyed and you don't even know how it happened.  I could not imagine having two kids tearing through my house at the same time.  I am sure that he will hurt himself again after we have done all we can to prevent it but I have learned that it is inevitable and it is just part of childhood.  Luckly for us he forgets about having hurt himself in a matter of minutes and goes on to play  He sure is a daring little guy buut he sure is getting quite a lot of life experience and he is a completly different personality than Blake.  Blake would rather sit down and read a book or put a puzzle together and Aiden is like the tasmanian devil.  Love you two.

A Night Alone!!!

My wonderful parents came over today and were kind enough to take my 2 wonderful childeren to stay at their house for the night.  They are going to have a great time though because they are going to play with some of their good firends tomorrow and then they are off to the zoo on Saturday.  I just wish that I didn't have to work on Saturday.  Then I would be off to play at the zoo with them but, at least I know that they are going to have a blast and they love to spend tons of time with Mawmaw and Pawpaw.  They are the best.  But we are definitly going to enjoy our couple of nights with some peace and quiet around our house.  We love you guys.

Fun With Leaves!!

My kids have discovered just how fun playing in the leaves can be.  With us having lived in AZ last year we had no leaves to play in and Aiden was to young to remember the leaves before we moved there.  So this year at the first chance J had to make a pile of leaves he raked them up and they let them fly.  It is so much fun to watch them play this year.  While we do miss the wonderful AZ weather I am going to enjoy seeing them playing in the leaves and then when the winter comes I hope that we get lots of snow so they can take full advantage of all the fun that can be had in the snow.  This year I will enjoy these firsts for Aiden and i know Blake is enjoying showing him the ropes of how to play with all these "toys".  Now if we could just figure out how to get them to rake up the pile after they are done dispersing them for us.

Innocent? I think not!!

Doesn't he just look like he would be the sweetest little guy around?  Well he can be but he also has his wake up in the middle of the night and destroy stuff side.  Over the past few weeks me and J have woken up to many different senarios.  Sometimes we discover them in the middle of the night and other times I find out before I leave for work.  He is waking up sometime between 3 and 5 am and just feels the need to stay up and play.  Now I know what you are thinking, how do you not hear him?  Well he is super quite and he does not tend to turn the lights on. The other morning I was awake and heard him wake up. I then heard him close his door and it sounded as though he went back in to bed so I continued to listen.  I heard nothing. No lights were turned on and our bedroom door was open.  I got up after a couple of minutes to check and make sure that he had gone back to bed but he hadn't instead he had climed onto the kitchen counter and gotten ahold of his baby powder and desitin and was making a nice mix of the two on the floor.  So I yelled and put him back to bed and proceeded to clean up the mess. I then checked on him before I went back to bed and he was out like a light. He has done different things on different days including playing in my make-up and lotions in the bathroom.  I sometimes wonder if he is sleep walking or something because how he can see to do all of this destruction without the lights on is baffling to me.  We don't want him to fall and hurt himself while he is up at night doing all of this.  If anyone has ideas on keeping him in his room I will take any input.  We want to be able to sleep but we also want him to be safe.  He is a very daring child and will definitly try anything once.  I am sure that he will always be keeping us on our toes and he always makes everyday and adventure.  We love you all the same little buddy and we are very happy to have you and we love that you keep challenging us.  I hope you never stop.

Missing the Family

Hey all, right now I am posting from a very lonely hotel room in Ohio.  I never realized just how quickly a night to myself could become so boring.  The boys definitly keep me on my toes but it is totally worth it.  Just look at those adorable faces.  It really helps knowing that they are in good hands with daddy right now though.  That makes me feel a lot better when I am on the road.  Thank goodness for a great husband.  He is the best.  Some days I don't know how he does it but he does and I am always impressed.  Love you all and missing you a bunch.
